robotics clubElm Middle School is committed to providing opportunities for its students that are "hands-on" and test "real world" problem-solving skills involving science, technology, engineering, and math (called STEM activities). In the club, teams design and build robots that compete in local and state events. Robots must be built using components made by VEX Robotics. Each year teams are given a new challenge that requires a different design. Robot teams that win at the state championship event qualify to move on to the world championship!
The 2016-2017 VEX Robotics Competition Game is called Starstruck. Click on the You Tube link below to view a short explanation of the game. Elm fields four robotics teams. We meet in Room 103 on Wednesdays (and Fridays when the events are closer) right after school. Last year we scrimmaged against middle school teams from Oak Park and Berwyn. |
